Summary

Our client is looking for an energetic Senior Software Engineer to join a talented software development team focused on developing applications for the geospatial community. Our ideal candidate will have outstanding software development skills and experience using OO methodologies. Key profile is product experience -language agnostic but okay with C++ as primary language; also someone that has solved problems in different domains and different tools. Responsibilities

  • Participate in all phases of designing and developing commercial products for the geospatial community.
  • Perform root cause analysis on reported software defects.
  • Work with other engineers on the development and maintenance of released products.
  • Outline proposed solutions and estimates to fix software defects.
  • Work with product management and QA to properly prioritize software defects.
  • Work with other engineers, QA, and product management to establish software release plans

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience with C++.
  • Client uses C#, .Net, ASP.NET, Android technologies - any of these are a plus!
  • Must have Shrink-wrap Product Development - Commercial or Enterprise software experience that has been pushed out to end users.
  • Strong OO design and development skills with commercial software.
  • Experience with agile development practices a plus
  • Experience with C, COM, JavaScript, and .NET considered a plus
  • 3+ years experience with Microsoft Web Technologies (ASP.NET, WCF) a plus

Summary

The Senior Server Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of the Windows Exchange and Virtualization Infrastructure across the enterprise. This person is charged with the responsibility of ensuring the Microsoft and Virtual Infrastructure is performing at the highest level possible. You will be responsible for performance analysis, definition of optimization metrics and its collection. Superior technical competency is required to lead, implement and support the organization. We are looking for someone who can operate independently and be a doer. This is a hands-on position supporting 830 employees nationwide. You must be willing to work after hours, be on-call 24 x 7 for scheduled times and work the occasional weekend and late night hours to support special needs/projects. This position will also require the occasional travel.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a second level of support on the Server Support team on all technical issues. Investigate and resolves server and data related hardware, software and application problems. Works in coordination with other IT staff to resolve development and production issues. Provides leadership in resolution of technical issues with external and internal customers.
  • Analyses, plans, supports and coordinates server hardware and application upgrades throughout the organization. Researches, evaluates and deploys operating system upgrades and software patches. Works with IT development to document requirements, evaluate alternatives and make product recommendations.
  • Evaluates new products and stays abreast of changes and updates in server products and services. Clearly identifies and understands business requirements and provides a high level of success and products to meet or exceed these requirements.
  • Develop, edit, review content for the self-service help desk knowledge base. Develop, edit and instruct other members of the IT technical operations group how the infrastructure works and how to support it.
  • Responds to tickets and service events in a timely and appropriate manner. Responds in a timely and appropriate manner to events occurring in the infrastructure.
  • Engineer and maintain Windows 2003/2008 Servers: Administer Windows Active Directory 2008, group policies.
  • Maintain and Administer Citrix computing environment.
  • Maintain and support IIS web environment, IIS 7.0, 7.5 experience.
  • Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent technical skill to support the client infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of administering a high availability Exchange 2010 environment
  • Administer hosted third party virus and spam filter environment
  • Working knowledge of SAN fabric Switches and storage
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems
  • Experience running and managing a VMWare fault tolerant virtual server environment
  • Administering Microsoft SCCM 2007 R2, distribution, packaging, asset inventory, imaging, and patching.
  • Practical experience with LAN/WAN routing and switching
  • Strong knowledge of DNS and DHCP services in a Microsoft environment
  • Outstanding customer service and interaction skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Basic knowledge of a datacenter environment, air, power, cabling, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or 5 to 7 years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Great communication skills in verbal, written and presentation formats; Very Good interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment
